What cannot go in your bins

There are some things we cannot collect as part of your normal kerbside waste collection service.

Bulky waste

We can pick up some kinds of bulky waste items for a fee – this includes washing machines, dishwashers, sofa and large electrical items like televisions. Find out more on our bulky waste page.

Other things we can’t pick up

You can take the following things to the household waste recycling centres that are run by Oxfordshire County Council.

  • Light bulbs and tubes
  • Car batteries
  • Rubble
  • Soil

Dangerous waste

The following items should not be put in your bins for collection.

  • Garden chemicals
  • Unusable solvent based paint
  • Paint strippers and thinners 
  • Varnishes, wood stains and preservatives
  • Sealants and glues
  • Car care products
  • Items you do not recognise
