Medical and clinical waste
Special collections, including syringes and needles are aranged by your local healthcare provider, such as your district nurse. For more information please contact your local surgery.
Clinical waste is taken to specialist facilities for processing for safe disposal. This includes treating sharps with advanced thermal treatment..
If you find needles in the street, or other public places, don’t pick them up or touch them. Report them to Biffa (see the contacts section below) and they’ll remove them.
Medicines
If you have any medicines or tablets you don’t want or need, please return them to your local pharmacy or chemists.
Blister packs
We cannot recycle empty blister packs in our kerbside recycling service but Boots – the chemist store – does a blister pack recycling scheme where you can take empty blister packs to selected stores. See the Boots website for more info and for stores close to you.
