Pirates put plastic recycling under the spotlight at Cornerstone this Easter
Parents should ‘waste’ no time in booking the fun-filled pirate show ‘Flotsam and Jetsam’s Adventure to the Great Trash Vortex’ which is on at Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot, this Easter.
The show, which will be on Tuesday 19 April at 11am and 2pm, is aimed at children aged three and up. It is a tale of pioneering pirates who spend their time pointing out plastic waste as they travel across the oceans in a ship created from recycled water bottles, while singing sea shanties and encountering a giant plastic bag squid.
Cllr Sue Cooper, Cabinet member for environment, climate change and nature recovery at South Oxfordshire District Council, which runs Cornerstone, says: “It’s very exciting to bring positive and fun ideas about recycling and reusing items to the stage in this way.
“We know you can give new life to old products, which reduces waste, but a ship made from entirely from old plastic bottles is something I’d be interested to see.”
WhatNot Theatre’s 45-minute show tells the story of legendary pirates Flotsam and Jetsam, founding members of the PPPI; Plastic Plundering Pirates Initiative. Aboard the great Polymer Poseidon, the pair are on a quest to the uncharted territory of the Great Pacific Trash Vortex.
Audience members are encouraged to get involved in this fully immersive and interactive show, with a few movie references sprinkled in just for the grown-ups to enjoy.
There will be two shows at 11am and 2pm. To book tickets or find out more visit www.cornerstone-arts.org or call the box office on 01235 515144.
