Enjoy all the fun of the (eco) fair this November

Everyone is invited to the Didcot Eco Fair on Saturday 2 November for a free family-friendly event showcasing fantastic local sustainable businesses with arts and crafts activities and advice on how we can reduce both our environmental impact and our heating bills.

As part of the Didcot Garden Town project, South Oxfordshire District Council and the Vale of White Horse District Council in partnership with Sustainable Didcot will take over Cornerstone Arts Centre in Didcot to host the fair between 11am and 3pm.

Centre stage will be the Eco Marketplace with a variety of stalls specialising in handmade products, children’s clothing, food and drink, jewellery, upcycled clothing and sustainable hygiene products.

Sustainable Didcot will be hosting a clothes swap including Christmas jumpers and party clothes, so bring unwanted, clean items and you could come away with something new to you.

The Didcot Repair Café will be on hand to advise on mending clothes and textiles. There will be an arts and crafts area for families. The councils’ waste and climate teams will have lots of ideas on how to use up leftovers and how to save energy at home. While local environmental organisations and charities will have information on nature recovery and biodiversity plans in the districts.

Cllr Robin Bennett, South Oxfordshire District Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Regeneration, said: “We are so pleased to be able to hold this event again after the success of the first Didcot Eco Fair two years ago, when hundreds of people attended and dozens of local businesses and organisations got involved. We’re delighted that we can again partner with Sustainable Didcot, showing how we can work together to lower our environmental impacts while building stronger community connections.”

Cllr Helen Pighills, Vale of White Horse District Council Cabinet Member for Community Health and wellbeing, said: “This is such a positive event offering residents a range of sustainable choices and offering those local businesses and organisations trying to tackle climate change the opportunity to promote their work and increase trade in a fun and friendly setting.”
