Community Payback (Unpaid Work) Scheme
What is the Community Payback Scheme
Community Payback is where offenders work on projects to pay back the community for their crimes, for example by:
- removing graffiti,
- clearing wasteland,
- decorating a community centre.
The work must:
- benefit the local community,
- not take paid work away from others,
- not make a profit for anyone.
How we can help
The Community Safety team, working together with HM Prison and Probation Service, can provide support and coordination for using unpaid work in community projects being run by any of our district, parish, or town councils within South and Vale.
How to refer a project
Projects should be referred using the referral form that can be downloaded here or by clicking the button below. The form is to be completed by a member or officer from any of our district, parish, or town councils within South and Vale. The completed referral form should be sent to communitysafety@southandvale.gov.uk.
You will receive an email from the team to acknowledge receipt.
Your project will then be assessed to see if it is suitable for the scheme and the Community Safety Officer will contact you to discuss the project further.
Alternative method to refer
Projects can also be referred directly to HM Prisons and Probation Service via the Gov.uk website. You can find the referral website by clicking on the link here. This method also works for projects outside of our districts.
